| In the last YGO TAS I heard about this, so I decided to check it out. The wiki page seemed promising and now I found where I can read it. I've just started reading episode 0. Episode 0 - Spoiler:
A young boy, bullied alot, one day finds the Death Note on the street. He cant understand English wel, and therefor only reads the word "Note" and decides to use it like a dairy. In it he writes down how two bullies (mentioning their names) bullied him everyday. Next day on school he discovered the two kids died of heart-attack. After school he is bullied again. This time he writes the name of the three kids in the Death Note. Next day on school he discovers yet again the three died. Looking up the word "Death" he realized what he had done and rushed home to hide the Note from his mother. He also finds out that two detectives have been investigating the sudden heart attacks. Coming home a Shinigami (ghost/ fiend) approaches him, the original holder of the Death Note. He informs the young boy that he already got a new Death Note and that the boy can keep his old one. He tells him a little more about the Death Note and how to use it. However, the two detectives had reached his home to question him. After that the detectives went searching through their case files and discovered simular cases of people suddenly dying of heart attacks. That night the boy gets nightmares about the kids he indirectly killed with the Death Note. The Shinigami asks him he wants to bring them back while it is still possible. The boy agrees and the Shinigami gives him a Death Eraser, capable of erasing the names of people died by the Death Note and bring them back to life. Next day the detectives are astonished to hear that the children are suddenly back alive and rush to the school to question him. However the boy - finder of the Death Note - gets scared and the 5 kids and 2 detectives die right there of heart attacks. Both the boy and the Shinigami are suprised the Death Note killed without being written in and discover that the incidents are all over the news. They learn that all over the world criminals are dying and figure out someone else is using a Death Note. The Shinigami reveals then that he "dropped" another Death Note somewhere. The boy figures out that the one killing everyone (again) might be the other kid who got bullied at school and rushes to him. The second kid was just in the proces of writing (the first) boy's name, but got interupted by his arrival. The boy tells the kid he was responsible for the deaths and tells him about the eraser, while erasing the names. The two decide to hand over the Death Note to the police and explain what happened and continue by making their way to the previous death detectives. The two dectives (back alive) hears them out of their story. While the first one is reluctant to believe their story, the second one is less suprised. The boys then decide to give them an example and the kid writes the name of boy (first finder) in his Death Note. After dying he is brought back to life and the two detectives are concinced. Knowing the danger of such thing, they burn it and decide never to speak of it again. While the boy (First finder) is alone, the Shinigami approaches him and tells him hes smart.
7 years later... It seems like their are several Death Note movies and novels made. The Shinigami and boy (now grown up) converse a little. This seems to imply the boy still has his Death Note.

| I really have to pick up the series again. I started reading it a few months ago and really liked it, but I think I got side-tracked and never got around to reading it again. It's a good series, so I'll have to put it in my list of "Books/Series to Read". I usually read the series on this site: One Manga | |

| Death Note is one of the few anime series that has an excellent dub as well, so I suggest you watch it. Adult Swim...might...still be playing it, I'm not entirely sure. You can probably find all the episodes on Youtube, though.
It is one of the best examples of a "cat and mouse" intelligence battle I have ever seen.
Of course, if you watch the anime, you'll be a "26" or "37" fan. You either feel that the series ended a 26, or that it ended at 37. You'll know what I mean if you ever watch it.

| Maybe in the far future Mr Blade, but for now that is unlikely. I dont have enough time to wait till all the episode downloads from Youtube. Chapter 1 - Spoiler:
The Shinigami is bored again. So after mentioning he lost his Death Note (again) he leaves for the human world. Meanwhile Light discovers the Death Note on the street. After reading the instructions he is convinced its a prank of sick people. A few days later he comes home. His mother congratulations him for being the number 1 student in Japan. After that he heads up to his bedroom, only to find the Shinigami there. The two talk for a while, and the spirit is suprised that Light killed somany people in just 5 days. The shinigami tells Light he "accidently" lost his Death Note because he was bored and wanted to have some fun in the Human World. Light then tells the spirit he was bored too and therefore killed all those people with the Note.
A flash back shows Light testing the Death Note by writing the name of a criminal holding school children hostage. Shocked that the suspect died, he was still in doubts and decides to go out and test it some more. He continues by killing a gang of motorcycle riders who were molesting a lady. After the sudden death, Light is finally convinced and decided to only use the Death Note to kill evil people.
He tells the Shinigami that he let everyone die of heart attack so people will realize bad people are getting killed. Light's aim is to create a world without evil where people realize that if they do evil things, they will die. The Shinigami smugly remarks that Light will be the only evil person left. Users of the Death Note will neither go to heaven or hell.
After a while, Interpol realizes criminals are suddenly dying...
Damn Ryuuku gets bored easily...

I know the loading time sucks but you can MULTITASK and watch/listen to them while doing your homework and that. It's not that hard to do so.

| Other news: started reading chapter 2 and almost to the end now. Summary coming up soon. Episode 2 - Spoiler:
Raito continues killing off people with the Death Note. On the internet they caught sight of the incidents of criminals suddenly dying and call the mysterious killer "Kira". Raito is quite pleased with this, stating his plan is working. However, the Interpol also caught sight of the incidents and decide to call a mysterious private detective to work on the case callled "L". He however reached them first and asks for all possible help of every country in this case.
At Raito's house, the tv is announcing an emergency broadcast. "L" appears on television with face and name claiming that he will solve the case of Kira. Raito, furious of the stupidity of the Detective writes his name in the Death Note. L on the television collapses and is pronounced dead. However the real L then comes up and reveals the broadcast is a trick to confirm his suspicions of Kira being in the Kanto provicion of Japan.
Raito is angry but also intruiged and both him and L claim to find and kill each other. The Shinigami Ryuuke is happy. Whoever finds the other first, the other will die. "Humans are so....interesting!"
And so the battle starts.
Currently reading chapter 3.

| Buying DVDs is overrated. Nah, I kid. It really is worth the watch if you muster up enough money / resources to be able to see it elsewhere. I have yet to read the manga, so I'll probably keep up with your chapter reviews here to see how similar it is.
Also, there's two live action movies the Japanese made for Death Note, both of which are pretty good as well.

Wikipedia says three. The third is a spinn-of featuring L. Currently reading chapter 12

Currently reading chapter 12 Screw spin-offs. Most of them tend to be of parody or terrible acting anyway.

Actually this spin-off seems to be quite good I heard. Other news: Reading chapter 21. But dont worry, I'll write a summary of 1 chapter per day.

| Eh, I still don't really see why it would be considered a "third" live action movie if it's a spin-off. I wouldn't call DBZ Abridged as DBZ episodes, but just spin-offs. They aren't really part of the series and therefore I would have no reason to link them together. But, then, I just like organizing things.
In any case, if it's supposed to be pretty good then I'll try and check it out anyway.
